At Château de Birazel, we put an ambitious and ethical strategy at the service of an epicurean philosophy and rigorous approach to wine.
Taking advice from prominent wine expert Jean-Philippe Fort (Cabinet Rolland), allows us to tap into the best tradition and innovation have to offer. The complex riches of our terroir allow us to produce elegant wines characterised by their finesse and freshness.
To optimize the quality of each and every batch, we apply plot selection, a diverse spectrum of Bordeaux grape varieties with 20 to 50 year-old vines, and cutting-edge technology and high-grade materials. Château de Birazel makes every effort to create top-end Bordeaux AOC wines that are ready to delight the palate.
The first harvest took place on the 3rd and 4th of September 2020, inaugurating the new wine cellar. This spring 2021, we are happy to announce the launch of our first wine: ROMANE 2020.

Romane
Vintage 2020
The year 2020 is identified as a warm year with contrasted rainfall. The cuvee ROMANE is born from a blend of Semillon (70%), Sauvignon blanc (15%) and Sauvignon gris (15%) grapes harvested at guaranteed maturity. Fermented at low temperature, and subsequently aged in new barrels (40%) and diamond shaped concrete tanks (60%). The cuvee ROMANE is a powerful yet distinct wine, full and round on the palate, that will charm the most demanding of connoisseurs.
The aromatic palette of the 2020 vintage ranges from flower to fresh brioche, alongside notes of citrus and white fruit notes, composing a superb and lasting equilibrium.

Vintage 2020
The year 2020 was described as warm, with contrasted rainfall. The Cuvée PAULUS is born from a blend of Merlot (73%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Carménère (7%) grapes harvested at guaranteed maturity. Run off into amphoras (33%), diamond-shaped concrete tanks (60%), and oak tuns (7%) for optimal malolactic fermentation, followed by nine month aging. Our complex, rich and silky red wine PAULUS will charm the most demanding of connoisseurs.
Its beautiful ruby purple colour develops into notes of ripe red and black fruits that smoothly mature on the palate. The long finish is balanced with aromas of delicate spices.
