ROMANE 2020, a tasting guide

Wine lovers instinctively serve rosé cooler than white wine, but a little less cold than Champagne, which some may even enjoy chilled. Sometimes a wine reveals its colours as it warms up, like the grapes ripening in the summer sun. Temperature is a crucial element in tasting, and one should not neglect it, or risk savouring only certain facets of a complex nectar.

Temperature is a crucial element in tasting, and one should not neglect it, or risk savouring only certain facets of a complex nectar.

Thus, the mineral notes and subtle acidity of ROMANE 2020 are best highlighted when it is served chilled (at 9-10°C). A little less cool (at 11-12°C), it reveals its atypical character, far from the archetypal white Bordeaux. It then comes closer to a Rhone wine, or a more Burgundian, more sophisticated Chardonnay. You can sense the grain of the wood.
Savoured as a pre-dinner drink, or to accompany seafood and cold fish, ROMANE may be decanted on a bed of ice to keep some freshness while being aired. Between 11 and 15°C our white wine develops a smoothness and long finish which allows it to enhance an entire meal. ROMANE then shows a different face, stouter and full-bodied, but just as pleasurable and aromatic.

If the cellars of the great Châteaux and the technological gems on the market are the stuff of dreams, one should know that it is not necessary to have a sophisticated wine cellar to enjoy a wine at its true value. A thermometer and a little common sense are the only requirements. The only thing remaining is to find the ideal temperature spot: a north-facing windowsill, a grassy bed wet with morning dew, damp sand at the beach, an ice bucket, or even a fridge (keeping an eye on the time!)… Place your bottle there a few hours before serving, according to the specific advice received from the winemaker, oenologist, or your favourite wine merchant. Enjoy your tasting!
