Welcome

Our history

After a 25-year stint of international career-travel, the Boeckx family put down roots in the South of France.

Driven by their love of the land and their respect for local traditions, bewitched by the rich history of the estate and its peaceful natural setting, Paul and Nicole purchased the Saint-Hilaire-de-la-Noaille domain, including two hectares of 30-year old Merlot vines located to the South of the castle, and a park totalling an additional 3.5 hectares. The company SCEA Château de Birazel was established in June 2017.

In 2023 Château de Birazel starts its process to obtain its bio certification by 2025 – 2026.

An additional 14.5 hectares of vineyards were acquired during the late months of 2017, adding additional varieties of grapes including Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon.

An additional 11 hectares of land were added during the early months of 2018, increasing the size of the park connected to the castle from 3.5 hectares to 14.5 hectares.

In order to produce wines of the highest quality, a new state-of-the-art wine facility was designed, and the construction of the new facility started in July 2019.

To further diversify, 0.42 hectares of more than 40-year old Merlot and 0.28 hectares of more than 40-year old Cabernet franc were added in late 2019.

In September 2020, construction of the wine facility was completed, the first harvest took place.

The first wines, Romane (white) and Paulus (red), were launched in 2021.
